Persistent fires and fireworks can be a problem for neighbours and their pets, especially during antisocial hours. Having a calm conversation with your neighbour may help, as they may not realise their fire or fireworks are causing an issue. If this fails, please make a report using the form below.

If the issue is ongoing, the local council is the best place to make a report as they have a legal responsibility to investigate complaints of smoke and fumes that could be a ‘statutory nuisance’. You can find your local council here.

Report fireworks or fires

Vehicle-related issues can include:

Abandonded vehicles: If a vehicle has been abandoned, it may look unkept or have visible damage. First, ask your neighbours to see if they know who’s car it is. If no one knows, write down the registraton number and make of the car. If you believe the car has been stolen, report online or call 101.

Dangerous driving, including speeding: This should be reported to the police online, or by calling 101.

Obstructive parking: Anyone can park on a public road, even if it’s right outside your home. However, parking is obstructive when someone repeatedly blocks your driveway or parks in your allocated space. Please let us know by reporting through the form below.

Off-driveway vehicle repair: Carrying out car maintenance on your own vehicle is fine if you’re using your garage or driveway; but using the street to fix a vehicle, or running a vehicle repair business, is not. If you see this happening in your neighbourhood, please make a report in the form below.

Having a calm conversation with your neighbour(s) about vehicle-related issues may help solve the problem before reporting, as they may not be aware that their behaviour is causing a problem. Soha is here to help if this fails – simply use the form below.

We would not usually consider garden issues to be anti-social behaviour but we can provide advice and support if you notice that a neighbours’ garden is untidy or overgrown, greenery is blocking exits and entrances, or there appears to be evidence of vermin.

We do suggest speaking with your neighbour before reporting the matter to us, as they may not be aware of the issue or realise the impact it is having. A sensitive conversation is a better long term solution than a report without your neighbour’s knowledge.

Although vandalism is a crime and must be reported to the police immediately, Soha must also be informed through estates@soha.co.uk as soon as possible so we can make the area safe. It is also our responsibility to ensure that any graffiti is removed from Soha property after it has been reported to the police.

Report vandalism immediately to the police through 101, or 999 if it is an emergency. if you wish to report anonymously, please contact Crimestoppers on their website or by phone on 0800 555 1111.

You will need to provide a crime reference number to continue with this form. The police will give this to you when you make your report.

Report vandalism

Littering is everyone’s responsibility. To keep your community clean and safe, Soha contracts John O’Connor to litter pick in your communal areas once a month. If this is not happening, please email us at estates@soha.co.uk.

In the same way, looking after the bin stores is all residents’ responsibility. Misuse of the bin store, which constitutes littering, means we must call in operatives to make the bin store safe and usable again. However, this will mean passing on the cost to all residents in the block, known as a “recharge”, to cover the cost of operatives.

Where we can identify the resident who litters, this will result in a personal recharge.

If you are experiencing issues with a neighbour’s pet we suggest that you approach your neighbour first to speak about the issue, as they may not realise that it is causing you a problem. This usually resolves the matter quickly and is a better long-term solution.

Cats in your garden

We do not consider this to be anti-social behaviour and we cannot take any action to stop this.

Dogs Barking

We would generally only consider dogs barking to be anti-social behaviour if it is frequent and persistent. We suggest that you speak to your neighbour first to explain the issue, as they may not realise that it is causing you a problem.

If this does not work then you can download our Noise app where you can start to record and report the noise you are hearing. We can then advise you if the noise is something that we would investigate.

You can also report excessive dog barking to the Environmental Health team of your local authority.

Dog fouling

Dog fouling can be considered anti-social behaviour if someone is regularly allowing their dogs to foul in a public place

We suggest that you speak to your neighbour first to explain the issue, as they may not realise that it is causing you a problem.

If the problem persists, please contact us so we can support you. Please note, we can only investigate if the owner of the dog is one of our tenants.

Dangerous dogs

If there is a dog that is dangerous and not under control, you must call the police emergency number 999 immediately, especially if you feel that you or anyone else is at risk.

Any dog that shows aggressive behaviour and makes you feel frightened can be considered a dangerous dog, especially if it is frequently not under proper control.

Once you have reported this to the police, please contact us on 0800 014 15 45 so we can support you with any further actions as required.

If you have concerns about the welfare of an animal, you should contact the RSPCA.

If you are worried about a person’s physical or psychological wellbeing, please let us know by using the form below. If you think that a child or vulnerable adult is experiencing abuse, don’t ignore it.

Fly-tipping can be unsightly, harmful to the community and is classed by law as a civil offence. If the fly-tipped object(s) are on Soha property, this should be reported to us immediately by emailing estates@soha.co.uk so that we can take action as swiftly as possible.

We would not usually consider noise associated with normal day-to-day living as anti-social behaviour, but we may be able to provide support if a neighbour is making excessive noise regularly.

Examples of normal living noise that we would not consider to be anti-social behaviour include: flushing toilets, talking, washing machines, closing doors, cooking noise, boiling kettles, occasional shouting and arguing, infrequent loud music, children playing, DIY.

We suggest that you approach your neighbour first to speak about the issue, as they may not realise that it is causing you a problem. This usually resolves the matter quickly and is a better long-term solution.

You may want to consider mediation as a way that you and your neighbours can express your feelings about the situation and agree on a solution. This is a free, independent and confidential service that we can refer you to – please just ask and we will be happy to help.

If you still feel disturbed, please download our Noise app where you can start to record and report the noise you are hearing. We can then advise you if the noise is something that we would investigate.

Environmental Health – Your Local Authority Environmental Health team are able to investigate complaints of noise to establish if it is having an unreasonable impact on peoples enjoyment of their home, and they have the ability to pursue legal action in cases where a statutory noise nuisance is established.
