Welcome to your Soha newsletter for July and August 2026
Did you know 29 June-5 July was Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness Week in the UK? We’d like to explain what is (and what isn’t) ASB and how you can make a report to us.
How to report anti-social behaviour (ASB) to Soha
- MySoha app and portal Report through the MySoha app 24/7. Not signed up yet? Here’s how
- Call us 0800 014 15 45 (Freephone) or 01235 515 900 (or 0800 014 15 45 Freephone)
- Email housing@soha.co.uk
Remember – if someone is in danger, immediately phone 999.

Soha’s approach to ASB
We want your community to be a place where everyone can feel safe, as all people have the right to live as they wish – as long as this doesn’t impact those living around them. Usually, a calm conversation can quickly resolve a neighbourhood issue but we’re here to support if needed.
It can sometimes be difficult for us to act without evidence, so keeping a diary with times and dates could be helpful. Reporting each incident to us separately is another way to help us build a picture of what is happening. Whether you’re a resident or not, we’d like to hear from you if you have been affected by any of the issues listed below.
If you’d like to report tenancy fraud, find out how here.
If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, please find guidance here. Our safeguarding page has a red emergency exit button in the bottom left which will delete the history of you looking at that page and take you to a safe page. No one should have to live with domestic violence. Read one resident’s experience of reporting domestic violence – and how it helped them to start fresh – on our website here.
Is it anti-social behaviour?
✔️ Yes – report this to us now
ASB includes violence, threats, racial harassment, drug activity, domestic violence, sexual harassment. It usually happens over a sustained period of time rather than being a one-off incident.
- Drug or alcohol-related nuisance, including illegal use of properties
- Using animals in a threatening way
- Actual or threatened violence or physical abuse
- Sniffing volatile substances, discarding needles/drug paraphenalia
- Indecent or offensive gestures
- Verbal abuse, intimidation, threatening behaviour or loitering
- Stalking, harassment, and hate crime
- Shouting and swearing, fighting, drunken behaviour, hooliganism or loutish behaviour
- Neighbourhood nuisance, including garden problems, littering and fly-tipping
- Joyriding, reckless driving, and abandoned cars
❌ Probably not ASB
Regular day-to-day living activities or behaviour related to divergent lifestyles are not treated as anti-social behaviour.
- Children playing in the street and ball games
- Cooking or household smells
- Babies crying
- DIY carried out during reasonable hours
- Smoking a normal cigarette outside
- One-off party
- BBQs
- Other vehicles preventing you from parking outside your home
- Trampolines
- Bonfires
- Cat nuisance
- Inconsiderate parking/parking on highways
- Comments on social media (unless hate-related or harassment)
- People ‘staring’ at each other/gossiping
- Youths congregating
- Overgrown gardens

Free community app coming soon
You may have seen the announcement that Soha, in partnership with other local housing associations Clarion and SNG, have been awarded a Social Housing Innovation Fund grant from the government to help bring communities together online.
We’re excited to introduce you to Neya – a free community app designed to help residents discover more happening on your doorstep, which we’re inviting you to join ahead of the launch later in the month!
👉 Download Neya on the App Store, Google Play or visit https://joinneya.com/go/soharesidentsneya
Powered by AI community discovery, Neya helps you discover the local groups, events, neighbours and activities most relevant to you. It will officially launch in mid-July, but Soha residents can download Neya now and be among the first to explore what’s happening in their local community.
There will be launch events in Wantage (on 14 July) and Didcot (on 21 July) – with free activities and refreshments – where you can come and meet the Neya team to hear more about how it works. The details are on our website here: click here for the Wantage event and here for the Didcot event.
What can you do on Neya?
Find your people Discover local groups based on your interests, whether that’s running, gardening, parenting or something completely different. You can also start your own group and connect with like minded people living nearby.
Meet your neighbours Join very local neighbourhood groups to get to know the people around you and build stronger local connections.
Never miss what’s on Discover local events, community meetups and free activities happening nearby. You can also post your own event and help more local people find it.
