Soha Response, Soha’s repairs and maintenance arm, has been awarded national health and safety accreditation: Smas Workspace.
Smas is a scheme promoted by the government’s Health and Safety Executive. Its assessors evaluate an organisation’s training and work practices. Some housing associations, and many housing developers, have met the Workspace standards.
David Evans, Soha Head of Health and Safety, said: “We’re really pleased with this endorsement. It demonstrates to our residents that Soha Response staff take health and safety seriously.
“It’s the result of robust, practical and continuous training, alongside making sure we learn and improve when things don’t go according to plan. Being a Worksafe landlord also means we’ll stay alert to the best practice of our peers.
“Part of the evaluation process also involved showing assessors our welfare provision for staff.
“Anyone applying to work for Soha Response can be assured that they will have the right tools and training for the job and a safe working environment in which to deliver our services to residents.”
