Soha has achieved ISO14001 accreditation.
ISO 14000 is an internationally recognised standard that relates to environmental management. Being ISO14001 accredited will help Soha minimise its impact on the environment and demonstrate how it is doing this over time. The standard will also help ensure it remains compliant with applicable environment-oriented laws and other regulatory requirements as well as demonstrate its commitment to environmental matters.
Crucially, for Soha residents this means that they will be able to monitor progress against key environmental objectives. This means bringing all Soha homes up to a minimum of Energy Performance Rating Band C by 2030, homes operating at Net Zero Carbon by 2050 and Soha itself operating as a business at Net Zero Carbon by 2030.
“Soha had an initial ISO14001 compliance audit back in April. The auditors set us only three short-term objectives which we needed to complete ahead of their follow-up certification audit last week”, says Lee Hayward, Director of Property Services.
Over the next year Soha has 13 long-term objectives to meet. This will involve introducing new systems and processes that will, amongst other things, help it reduce its carbon footprint. “Accreditation clearly demonstrates that we are making every effort to embed environmental sustainability in our company culture. We have a Green Team composed of residents and staff who, we can be sure, will hold us to our focus on environmental matters, reducing carbon emissions and delivering our objectives!”, added Lee.
