The Chief Constable of Thames Valley Police, Jason Hogg, and the Thames Valley Police and Crime Commissioner, Matthew Barber, have handed £3000 to Soha Housing to help its drive against anti-social behaviour.
Over £200,000 had been raised from the sale of lost or stolen items where the police could not trace an owner. This money was then offered as grants or donations to local charitable organisations and other local community groups at an event on 31 October. Soha applied and was successful.
8,000-home Soha divided its territory into five ‘Localities’ around two years ago. Each area has its own Community Neighbourhood Officer, Rents, Repairs and Estates Officers as well as other specialists.
Head of Localities at Soha, Emma Langstaff, said “We will use the Thames Valley Police Community Fund grant on digital door viewers, GuardCams (an integrated floodlight, camera, and voice recorder) and towards sophisticated mobile CCTV installations which we can deploy across any of our five Localities. Soha is committed to creating communities where residents feel safe and can live peacefully and this kit will enable us to work with residents to prevent and manage unacceptable or anti-social behaviour that may occur in their neighbourhood.”
