Rent and service charges: frequently asked questions

accodion-arrow

How do service charges work?

Service charges are designed so that each household is charged a share of the actual costs of providing communal facilities or services.

We collect the charges during the year based on an estimate of the costs and charge you your share of that estimate. We try to be as accurate as we can – but we can only make an estimate.

We’ll always send you a breakdown of your service charges so you know what to expect.

When will my rent increase?

We increase rents once a year, at the beginning of April

Normally this happens on the first Monday in April.

Our rent increase limit is set by the government, allowing us to increase rents by the consumer price index (CPI) plus 1%.

If you have any questions or queries about your rent, please contact our customer services team.
What is the Consumer Price Index?

The CPI is used to measure inflation. It basically measures changes in the price of a mixed basket of consumer goods and services bought by households in the UK.
